3. Use Controls and Settings in the Software
Even if you can’t see the video preview on the app, it still allows you to control the webcam and personalize what gets transmitted to the meeting platform. The controls and settings available will vary depending on the model of the webcam because certain models have unique customizations.
The most common adjustment is zooming in so other meeting participants can see your face better. Use the “+” button on the app’s Home tab to zoom in.
It would be best if you waited to view changes to your video during the meeting. Utilize the directional arrows to adjust your position in the frame if you’re cropped in any direction. This is the Home tab for my Logitech C920 on Windows.
Sometimes, the full controls are not displayed when the camera is at the full zoom-out position because the positional adjustments only take effect when you zoom in.

Suppose you’re the only person in a Teams meeting at the beginning. In that case, you won’t see any camera adjustments in the video preview that Teams shows you in full screen before others join. When others join the meeting, your small video preview in the bottom corner will show the adjustment.
We’re not sure why Teams is doing this, but it’s concerning if you didn’t see the video changes in full-screen preview mode at the start of the meeting. Once everyone exits and you’re the only one left in the meeting, the full-screen preview should display the camera adjustments correctly.
5. Minimize the Camera Settings app during the meeting
After you adjust your video using the Camera Settings app, minimize the app and leave it open during the meeting. If you close the app, you may lose the adjustments you made to your video. To prevent this, keeping the app open and minimized is the best course of action.
The application needs only a small amount of resources and will not impact your computer’s performance during the meeting. You may close the Camera Settings application once the meeting is finished.
6. Explore Advanced settings
The Camera Settings app’s Advanced tab contains other settings you may want to customize. We tend to leave these as default, but see if they can give you better video in meetings. We recommend you leave autofocus and auto white balance on, as manually adjusting them can be a lot of work during meetings.
