Logitech G920 Review

G920 Software, Drivers Download, Review, and Manual – If you are looking for a decent steering wheel to improve your racing game, then the Logitech G920 is the right device for you. Based on the popular Logitech G29 PS4/PS3/PC model, the Logitech G920 Xbox One is very similar, only with Xbox buttons and branding. It’s also compatible with PCs so that you can use it with your rig too.

We have tested this steering extensively to determine its suitability based on the relatively high price for this steering wheel. After all, there are cheaper steering wheels out there (and more expensive ones, too), so you need to know what you get with the Logitech G920.

Steering Performance

The act of driving with the unit is an absolute joy. With an impressive 900 degrees rotation, it feels like you have a real car under your palm. Its movements are very smooth. The strong force pushes and pulls the steering input when you knock on another vehicle, tolling on the sidewalk, kissing Armco (yes, or crashing at 200 mph), giving you a real feeling to control a real car.

Logitech G920

Ergonomically fantastic, although the placement of the B button is a bit awkward when it’s the only method you apply the handbrake. The actual handbrake add-on will be appreciated, but – to date – Logitech does not have that available. That said, you can map the handbrake to another button or the clutch pedal. Not ideal, but at least a workable solution.

Gear performance

Paddle shifters are well made and feel very comfortable under your finger if you are skilled enough to choose manual gears. However, this is not a perfect blend of form and gameplay. Play any game where you need severe steering movements, such as Dirt Rally, Gravel, or WRC 18, and you will find that you often need to change gears when you lose track of where the levers are. This can cause you to look for the closest bar that your finger can find, then raise your teeth instead of lowering your teeth because the wheel is upside down.

Some G290 units are equipped with rod stick adapters, which offer a 6-speed ‘H’ layout for manual gears. Coupled with the clutch pedal, that means you can drive your virtual car, choosing the right equipment for every moment.

Logitech G920 Pedal

Pedal performance

On the Logitech G920, you will get three very well-built pedals on this unit, which means acceleration, braking, and clutch control are under your feet, and all of them offer progressive control. That means you can gently rotate your engine at the starting line, squeeze brakes like eggshells to avoid locking, or even find clutch bite points in actual sims like Assetto Corsa.

At least in theory – and that’s where we come to the main criticism of this wheel bundle: The brake pedal has proven to be very rigid for many users. The brake pedal is too tricky to use, which requires unrealistic weight weights to break 100%. A piece of rubber is designed to provide authentic resistance, but it is too thick.
