Logitech Slim Combo for iPad Pro (1st & 2nd Gen) Review, & Manual Setup

Apple praised the iPad Pro as 2-in-1 and offered a Smart Keyboard to turn this tablet into a laptop. But there are other options, especially Logitech Slim Combo, which uses a design that makes this iOS device look very similar to Microsoft Surface Pro. Logitech case/keyboard combinations are available now. The version for the iPad Pro 10.5 inches sells for $ 129.99, while the iPad Pro version is 12.9 inches for $ 149.99.

Logitech Slim Combo Build, and Design

Many additional keyboards, such as Brydge 12.9, turn the iPad into a traditional laptop. Slim Combo instead adds a kickstand to the tablet, so it’s always supported from the bottom and is very stable. The hinges on this stand can rotate until the screen rests at an angle of 150º. The straightest angle is 110º.

The disadvantage of this design is that Slim Combo requires more space than traditional clamshells. This is most noticeable when used on the lap – the screen cannot lean past the knee because the base beneath it requires support.

The 12.9-inch iPad Pro requires a lot of rotation on its own, so the keyboard in this version for this model can be folded in half. This is not an option with a 10.5-inch model. Slim Combo sits firmly in your lap, where people can type with relative ease. But the kickstand’s thin edge starts to become uncomfortable after a while.

On the top edge is a circle designed to hold an Apple Pencil. Our unit tests do this safely, without the suggestion that it will come loose. However, we are always nervous that the hat will come off the stylus and disappear somewhere – there is nothing Logitech can do about this. This fabric loop does the same good job as holding a stylus or other pen.

Almost every part of the Logitech accessory is plastic, which makes it lightweight but not too rough. The keyboard covers the iPad’s screen, helping protect it from scratches. This product is available in charcoal gray or bright blue casing. This only affects the exterior color; the keyboard area is always black. The overall appearance of the charcoal version is professional, while the blue model is more cheerful. As the name suggests, Slim Combo does two jobs, and therefore, includes two parts: the stand and the clip-on keyboard.
